TEMPORARY WORK (INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS) VISA SUBCLASS 403
The Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403 is a temporary visa with which you can work in Australia in special circumstances to advance the country’s international relations. This Visa has six streams:

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Eligibility criteria for the government agency stream of the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403, you will have to meet the following conditions:
Enter into the terms and conditions of a mutual agreement that Australia or a state or territory government of Australia and another nation. You are required to provide a letter of support that states that you are part of the engagement that Australia or the state or territory government of Australia has entered into bilaterally with another country.
The letter should recognize you and your family members who are accompanying you to Australia:
- What is the nature of your work
- Australian stay is supported by both the signatory of Australia and the other signatory, and proof that the other signatory was taken into confidence
- that the signatory of Australia substantiates your employment is in accordance with the laws and practices of Australia (if that condition has been specified in the agreement)
- how long do you plan on staying in Australia
- that the signatory of Australia approves your Australian stay for the planned duration and objective
- Be endorsed by the bilateral agreement’s both signatories you plan to work in Australia under.
- Propose to satisfy the agreement’s terms and conditions, which include complying with any requirements of licensing or registration as your employment’s functions.
- Show the ability to take care of yourself and any dependents financially during your stay in Australia.
- If applying to work in Australia, you need to hold, or must have held in the last 28 days, a short-term substantive visa. The short-term substantive Visa held by you must not have been:
- In the Domestic Worker (Diplomatic or Consular) stream of a subclass 403 visa
- a Special Purpose visa, or
- a Transit visa (subclass 771),
- Satisfy the requirements of health.
- Satisfy the requirements of character.
- Hold sufficient health insurance
- Satisfy the requirement of a valid temporary stay.
- Must not be indebted to the government of Australia.
The Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403 visa stream’s foreign Government Agency Stream allows its holders to arrive in Australia for particular activities. You may be appointed as a foreign government agency’s representative or by an overseas government as a foreign language teacher. If you satisfy these, you are allowed to stay for up to four years in Australia, and it costs AUD 310.
FOREIGN GOVERNMENT AGENCY STREAM’S ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible for the foreign government agency stream’s Visa Subclass 403, you will have to meet the following:
- Hold from the overseas government agency, embassy or ministry, or international establishment a letter of support.
- You need to have a letter of support from a school in Australia or a third-party authority in case you are a teacher in a foreign language.
- Have the ability to take care of yourself and the people depending on you in Australia.
- Work as an agency representative of an overseas government who won’t be granted by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in Australia official status, or a teacher in a foreign language who will be employed by a government overseas in a school of Australia.

- Must not have had a visa declined or refused previously.
DOMESTIC WORKER (DIPLOMATIC OR CONSULAR)
The Domestic Worker Stream of the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403 visa stream lets an individual who is aged more than 18 to be temporarily employed full-time in Australia in the household of someone holding a Visa Subclass (Temporary) 995. This visa’s validity is 12 months, allowing you stay additionally up to the duration of the validity of the posting of your employer in Australia. You can travel to and from Australia as many times as you want and be in or outside Australia when you apply.
Domestic worker stream’s eligibility criteria
The eligibility criteria for the Subclass 403 domestic worker stream you will have:
- Be aged at least 18.
- Be supported by the DFAT.

- Have the ability to take care of yourself financially.

The Visa Subclass 403 visa’s privileges and immunity stream allow you to arrive in Australia if you hold, or expect to hold, under pertinent legislation’s privileges and immunities. You can reside on this Visa in Australia while you are employed as a transnational representative. With this Visa, you are allowed to stay in Australia as indicated in the letter that the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade grants, and the application for a visa is free.
PRIVILEGES AND IMMUNITY STREAM’S ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be entitled to the Privileges & Immunity Stream of Visa Subclass 403, you will have to:
