- Global Talent Visa- subclass 858: It has two pathways that depend on your skills. You will have to submit your interest for your selected pathways.
- Employer Nomination Scheme Visa- subclass 186: You must have a sponsor to apply for this visa and choose one of the available streams:
- Labor agreement stream
- Direct entry system
- Temporary residence transition stream
- Permanent Skilled Regional Visa- subclass 191: This visa opened last year, and to apply for this visa, you must have been a holder of a valid visa to apply.
- Regional Sponsored Migration Visa- subclass 187: To apply for this visa, you must hold a valid work visa while working for the same employer.
- Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa- subclass 494: With this visa you will be allowed to work in the areas where you have been nominated by your sponsoring employer. After completing three years, you can apply for permanent residency based on your eligibility.
- Skilled Independent Visa- subclass 189: This is a point-based visa; to apply for this, you must hold a minimum score of 65 points from the skills table. With this visa, you can stay in the country perpetually.
- Skilled Nominated Visa- subclass 190: This is an invite-only visa and you will get an invitation only if you meet the eligibility criteria.
- Skilled Recognized Graduate Visa- subclass 476: This visa is for recent Australian graduates who show skills in their respective fields of study. This is valid for eighteen months.
- Skilled Regional Visa- subclass 887: You must have had a short-term work visa previously to be able to apply for this visa.
- Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa- subclass 489: You must have previously been a skilled regional visa holder. You can apply for a permanent visa after a few years.
- Skilled Work Regional Visa- subclass 491: This visa is only issued to qualified and highly-skilled individuals. You must meet the minimum eligibility points and submit your interest. You can also apply for a permanent residency after completing three years.
- Temporary Activity Visa- subclass 408: This visa was introduced during the pandemic to extend people’s existing visas by providing evidence of how you were affected by the global pandemic.
- Temporary Graduate Visa- subclass 485: You can apply for this visa by choosing one of the two streams based on your occupation. The visa is valid only for two to four years, and you will have to apply for another work visa to get a permanent visa.
- Temporary Work International Relations Visa- subclass 403: You can apply for this visa by selecting one of the six streams where you can fulfill the eligibility criteria. Each stream has its specifications and requirements.
- Temporary Work Visa for Short Stay Specialist- subclass 400: This visa lets you apply to it by possessing a specialized skillset in short supply in the country. This visa is valid for three months, but in some cases, it is also valid for six months.
- Temporary Skill Shortage Visa- subclass 482: You will have to choose any of the available three streams depending on your suitability. You must be nominated and sponsored by your employer to get this visa. Also, you can apply for permanent residency after a few years.

Australian work permit visa process
Below are the steps to apply for an Australian work permit visa:
- Decide the work visa category as per your eligibility
- You must fulfill the skillselect (points-based assessment) requirements
- Ensure that before you apply for the work permit visa, your employer completes an online nomination/sponsorship
- Fill out the online visa category application form
- Submit requirements showing the relevant information with your application
- Pay the visa application fee
Requirements to apply for Australian Work Permit Visa are as follows:
- Health insurance certificate

Skill assessment by the assessing authority
To get to the next step of the Australia work visa application process, it is mandatory to get a positive skill assessment. Applicants must choose an occupation that is present in Australia’s Occupational Demand List. Also, the occupation you select must match your work experience. In Australia, the occupations that fall under Information Technology are being assessed by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and Trade Recognition Australia (TRA) or Vocational Educational and Training Assessment Services (VETASSESS) govern the assessment for trade occupations.
There are a few factors that are considered by the assessing authorities:
- Applicant’s selection of the visa category
- Applicant’s work experiences
