BRIDGING VISA D SUBCLASS 040
- This visa is for people who are in Australia and do not have a valid visa to stay.
- It allows you to stay in Australia for a short period of time until you can make arrangements to leave or apply for another visa.

BRIDGING VISA D SUBCLASS 040 & SUBCLASS 041
The Bridging Visa D, or BVD, allows people to remain in Australia for a short duration if an individual’s visa has expired. The bridging visa D, however, will not let them enter Australia once again after they leave. Individuals need to apply for Bridging visa D if their substantive visa has expired and they want another visa to be granted to exit Australia.
There are two types of bridging visas, visa subclass 040 and visa subclass 041. Applicants for this visa must be holders of visas when they apply for a bridging visa D. Bridging visa D is free and needs its applicants to fulfil specific terms and conditions before they can apply for it.
Both Bridging visas D, be it subclass 040 or 041, do not allow their applicants to work in Australia. The validity of a BVD is five working days since the day of its grant or after five working days have ended if your substantive visa is no longer valid.
AUSTRALIA’S BRIDGING VISA D
The different rights that one can have with Australia’s bridging visa D are as follows:
- These bridging visas allow you to stay legally in Australia for a short duration if you do not possess a visa of Australia.
- with this visa subclass, you cannot work in Australia.

Before applying for the Bridging Visa D, you need to fulfil some conditions. Ensure to go through the visa 040 & 041 specifications required to apply for the BVD:
- Be in Australia physically.

- Must not have a substantive visa when you apply for the bridging visa D, or your substantive visa should be expiring within the next three working days from the date you have applied for either of the BVDs.
- Should not be employed with a BVD in Australia.
