Overview
The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is a category under the Express Entry immigration system that allows individuals who have been working in Canada on a temporary basis to become Permanent Residents. The CEC is a great opportunity for those with in-Canada work experience to make their stay permanent.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Canadian Experience Class, you must:
Have at least 12 months of skilled, professional or technical work experience in Canada in the last three years before you apply.
Have gained your experience in Canada with the proper authorization.
Meet the required language levels needed for your job in each language ability (speaking, reading, writing and listening).
Plan to live and work outside of the province of Quebec (individuals with work experience in Quebec and who plan to reside in Quebec may apply to the Quebec Experience Class).
Application Process
Step 1: Evaluate your eligibility. Check whether your job falls under the required National Occupational Classification (NOC).
Step 2: Ensure you have taken a language test (IELTS, CELPIP, TEF) and met the minimum language requirement.
Step 3: Gather all necessary documents. This includes identification, proof of work experience, language test results, and more.
Step 4: Submit your profile to the Express Entry pool. If your profile meets the criteria, you will be placed in the pool of candidates.
Step 5: Wait for an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence. ITAs are typically issued to the highest-ranking candidates in the pool.
Step 6: If you receive an ITA, you will have 60 days to submit a full application for permanent residence.
