Immigrants from non-EU and EEA countries in Switzerland should apply for a family visa if they wish to bring their family members to the country. Family members include:
- Spouse or registered partner
- Children below 18 years
Documents required
- Passport with a validity of at least three months beyond the date of return
- Covering letter from applicant
- A letter from the spouse requesting that his or her spouse be granted a residency permit
- Certificate of marriage
- Original birth certificates of children who are financially dependent
Application process
If applying from outside Switzerland, the third-country national must apply for family reunion in Switzerland through the Swiss embassy or consulate in their home country, or through the local cantonal immigration department if applying from within Switzerland.
