Why study in Ireland?

Students who wish to study in Ireland can choose from the country’s many top-ranked universities and offers scholarships and grants to deserving students. The tuition fees in these universities are also reasonable.

Before you decide to study in Ireland, you must decide on which Ireland study permit you should apply for. There are two types of Ireland study permits:

If you plan on studying in Ireland for less than three months, you’ll need to apply for a ‘C study permit.’ The short-stay C permit allows you to come to Ireland for a short period of 90 days to undergo a training course for work or professional advancement. You are not permitted to work while on this training permit.

If your course has duration of more than three months, you will need to apply for a ‘D study permit.’ A foreign student normally applies to a D study permit while intending to remain in Ireland for more than three months.

Eligibility requirements for study visa in Ireland

  • Demonstrate intentions to return home: Your statement of purpose for an Ireland student permit must state that you plan to return to your home country after your studies are completed.
  • Sufficient Financial Support: In addition to the course fees, you must demonstrate that you have immediate and ready access to at least 7,000 EUR. This is the average cost of living in Ireland for one academic year for a student.
  • Admission proof: You must send a letter of acceptance from the relevant Irish university confirming your acceptance for a full-time program.
  • Proof of strong ties to your home country: You should be able to demonstrate strong ties to your home country through family, work opportunities, bank accounts, or other properties.
Processing time

The processing times are variable based on the nation from which you submit your application. Normally, you will get the decision in 4 to 8 weeks. This is from the date you submit the application at the Consulate/Embassy.
