A route for skilled individuals with a job offer from an approved company sponsor is included in the points-based system. Since the Skilled Worker’s immigration is based on a points system, they can take advantage of the various points requirements to obtain the required number of points to apply for immigration.
While having a work offer from an approved sponsor is required, they will receive 50 points if they have a job at the relevant skill level and have English language abilities at the acceptable level.
If they are hired for a position that pays at least £25,600 per annum, they can earn the remaining 20 points. They can gain these extra points if they have better qualifications.
- 10 points for a relevant Ph.D.
- 20 points for a Ph.D. in science, technology, engineering or math
- 20 points for a job offer in a skill shortage occupation
