On March 2, 2021, Ontario issued invites to 754 Express Entry candidates. These immigration candidates who had their profiles in the Express Entry system were invited to apply for a provisional nomination.
The CRS score required of these candidates ranged between 463 and 467. The invited candidates chosen by the OINP were those who may be eligible for EE HCP. Through this PNP, foreign workers could arrive to work in Canada and launch their careers in Ontario.
Candidates with work experience in the following occupations were invited to this PNP draw:
- NOC 0124 - Advertising, marketing, and public relations managers
- NOC 0122 - Banking, credit, and other investment managers
- NOC 0125 - Other business services managers
- NOC 1111 - Financial auditors and accountants
- NOC 0601 - Corporate sales managers
- NOC 1112 - Financial & investment analysts
- NOC 1122 - Professional jobs in consulting for business management
- NOC 1121 - Human resources professionals
- NOC 4163 - Business development officers and marketing researchers and consultants
- NOC 3012 - Registered nurses & registered psychiatric nurses
These jobs were similar to what was targeted at in the February 2 draw of this year.
The candidates invited through this draw were required to have at least a year’s experience of working in any of the above-listed occupations. Only then will they receive a provincial nomination. With such a nomination, they will be pushed to the front row when it comes to receiving an ITA for Canada PR in an upcoming Express Entry draw.
In 2020, Ontario issued invites to 6,716 immigration candidates from the Express Entry to apply for a provincial nomination via the HCP stream. This was the largest number of provincial nominations issued via Ontario’s PNP draws that were linked with Express Entry.
Once Express Entry candidates get a provincial nomination – Ontario in this case – they get 600 extra CRS points. This increases their overall score and assures them an ITA in an Express Entry coming up. During the COVID-19 pandemic, IRCC has been conducting only PNP draws.
Another format of immigration draws that Canada conducted in 2020 was all-program draws. This started closer to the second half of 2020. Candidates who had a CRS score above the cut-off prescribed got invited to those draws.
