Ontario was lately in the news for revamping the system of intake for the Master’s Graduate stream and the Ph.D. Graduate stream. That was 2 weeks back. Now, Ontario has held its very first round of invitations for these streams on August 18, 2021.
The new streams are basically what gives international students who graduated from a university in Ontario deemed eligible by the government the chance to Canada PR and move to Ontario. They aren’t required to hold a job offer to be eligible.
The August 18 round of invitations
An Ontario PNP draw was conducted on August 18, 2021, wherein OINP issued invitations to 479 international student graduates. They were invited to apply for a provincial nomination from Ontario.
Of the 479 invitations, 402 went to the candidates from the Master’s Graduate stream. The minimum EOI score required for them to get invited was 39.
77 candidates were invited from the Ph.D. Graduate stream. They needed an EOI score of at least 17.

About the ranking system of Ontario PNP
Ontario ranks EOI profiles of immigration candidates on the basis of human capital factors. The scores given are based on the stream the candidates apply for. So, besides work experience and level of skills, factors like education, wage, the region of study in Canada, and skills in the official language.
Besides these, Ontario also gives 10 points as it chooses to in response to the requirements of the labor market.
