British Columbia (BC) held its latest round of invitations to Skilled Immigration (SI) and Express Entry (EE) BC in its Provincial Nominee Program (British Columbia PNP) conducted on July 14, 2020. 320 invitations were sent to the chosen candidates.
EEBC is one of the many provincial programs in Canada that is aligned with the federal government’s EE system. This system manages applications for permanent residence (PR) received through 3 prominent economic programs namely:
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
- Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC)
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
This system is also used by many provinces to handle applications related to their own regions. These applications are submitted for a provincial nomination in the respective province.
The EE candidates who get a provincial nomination are given an additional 600 points on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points. This in effect guarantees the candidate to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for PR in an upcoming EE draw.
The candidates invited under the SI stream are invited through the categories of:
- Entry Level
- Semi-Skilled
- International Graduate
- Skilled Worker
For this draw, the minimum points needed came within the range of 76 to 98. The point requirement depended on the category.
The following were the minimum scores required for each category under SI:
- EEBC – International Graduate: 98
- EEBC – Skilled Worker: 98
- SI – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled: 76
- SI – International Graduate: 98
- SI – Skilled Worker: 98
Candidates who are interested in applying via the EEBC stream required to have their federal Express Entry profile. The also had to register in BC’s SIRS (Skills Immigration Registration System).
Candidates willing to apply via the SI stream need to register only in the SIRS.
