British Columbia Latest Draw

British Columbia (BC) conducted a Tech pilot draw on July 7, 2020. 57 invitations were sent in this draw.

Since its beginning in 2017, the British Columbia PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) Tech Pilot has been a pathway for attracting skilled immigrant tech workers and international students to the province.

BC PNP Tech Pilot issues invitations every week to candidates having a valid job offer for 1 year in any of the Program’s stipulated occupations. The job offer must have a minimum of 120 days remaining at the time of application.

Invitations were sent to candidates in the categories of:

  • International Graduate
  • Skilled worker

These candidates come from the streams of:

  • Skills Immigration streams
  • Express Entry BC (EEBC)

The minimum provincial score needed for selected candidates was 80 points.

If any candidate gets a provincial nomination from British Columbia, that person will be awarded an extra 600 points on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. It, in effect, guarantees that they receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in an upcoming federal draw.

To be considered for immigration to BC through this draw, the first step for a candidate is to create a profile through the online portal of BC PNP. They must also register under BC PNP’s Skills Immigration Registration System.

British Columbia has so far held 14 draws of the tech-only type in 2020. The most recent draws conducted by BC PNP were conducted on June 9, 2020, and June 23, 2020.

The largest draw since the COVID-19 pandemic started was conducted in June 2020. 314 candidates from Express Entry and Skills immigration were invited in that draw.
