Eligibility criteria for Electrical Engineer
The eligibility criteria for Electrical Engineers in Canada are given below:
- An undergraduate degree in electronics or electrical engineering. The candidates are also eligible if they have graduated from a related engineering field.
- A post-graduate degree or doctorate in a related engineering field may also be required.
- License by a territory or province body to certify them as professional engineers. It would facilitate approval of engineering reports and drawings and certify them as a P.Eng. or Professional Engineer.
- Engineers are required to register after graduation from a recognized study program.
- They are required to have 3 to 4 years of work experience under supervision in engineering and qualify for a professional practice examination.
- A certification by LEED or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design authorized by the Canada Green Building Council may be asked for by a few employers.

How can an Electrical Engineer migrate to Canada?
There are multiple immigration pathways for Electrical Engineers who wish to migrate to Canada. The two most popular pathways are:

The Express Entry program is the most popular pathway. For this program, the candidate is required to register their profile online by giving the correct details about themselves. The program is easy and quick. It implies that as an Electrical Engineer, it is an efficient way to migrate to Canada. By registering the profile in the Express Entry system, the candidate needs to meet the following eligibility criteria:

- Language proficiency in either English or French

If the candidate meets or exceeds the cut-off score, they receive an ITA or invitation to apply for Canada PR or permanent residency.
The Express Entry is further divided into 3 immigration streams. They are:
- CEC or Canadian Express Class
- FSTP or Federal Skilled Trades Program
- FSWP or Federal Skilled Worker Program
Electrical Engineers are classified under the FSWP, through the Skill type A and a TEER code of 21310.
- Provincial Nomination Program
