Canada has made it mandatory for travelers arriving in the country to have a negative COVID-19 test result obtained within 3 days of arrival. This new instruction is implemented over and above the 14-day compulsory quarantine required of travelers arriving in Canada while they are holding a Canada visitor visa or work visa.
The test results travelers must have must be of a PCR test. This test is by far the most effective test prescribed for the COVID-19 pandemic. Those travelers without a prior exemption from compulsory quarantine from the Canadian government on compassionate grounds must stay indoors at all times for 14 days on arrival. They must also have a plan for how they will obtain their essential supplies like groceries, medicine, and food.
Those who break the quarantine rules will be heavily fined with or without imprisonment. The increase in COVID-19 cases in December 2020 has prompted Canada to tighten its regulations around Canada immigration.
Canada has started with vaccination for COVID-19 prevention, as it got its first batch of medicine from Pfizer recently. The Moderna vaccine is also slated to arrive in Canada soon.
Every passenger arriving in Canada must already have the ArriveCAN app on their mobiles. The app will have all personal information, flight details, and completed a daily self-assessment report.
