What is Canada IEC?

Canada’s IEC (International Experience Class) program specifically caters to international youth, allowing them to work in Canada. Youth from over 30+ countries can acquire an open work permit and be employed by any Canadian employer of their choice via the IEC work permit. The IEC work permit is valid for two years with a processing time of 4 weeks.

The Introduction of Automated Tool

The IRCC notified about the launch of an automated tool on November 7, 2023. The tool was introduced to transform the processing of IEC work permit applications. The new change will result in faster processing of work permit applications and reduced waiting times. The automated tool will analyze the applications based on their complexity and approving the eligibility for regular IEC applications.

Eligibility criteria for Canada IEC

One has to fulfill the list of eligibility criteria listed below to apply for a Canada IEC work permit:

  • The candidate must be aged 18-30/35 when applying for the permit.
  • The candidate must have minimum proof of funds worth $2,500 CAN.
  • The candidate must have medical insurance that covers their entire stay in the country.
  • The candidate must submit proof of travel itinerary.
