Highlights: 50% work experience to be cut-off for the Canada Caregivers Program
- Caregivers will have flexible eligibility criteria and options to migrate to Canada with PR.
- Candidates with work experience of 1 year to now to be accepted for the Caregiver programs.
- The latest 50% slash update in the work requirements will be implemented on April 30, 2023.
- The ongoing caregiver programs are expected to be converted to permanent programs in June 2024.

50% work experience reduction for Canada PR for Caregivers
The three main types of Canada Caregiver programs that eligible caregivers can consider are given below:
- Live-in Caregiver Program
- Home Child Care Provider
- Home Support Worker Provider Pilot
The IRCC has downgraded the work experience criteria for the Caregiver programs. A 50% cut in employment experience will now be considered, starting from April 30, 2023, for all eligible candidates.
Caregivers with 1-year experience will now be qualified to migrate to Canada under the Caregiver programs. The application processing time is expected to speed up, allowing more candidates to apply for the Caregiver Programs.
Since the launch of the Home Child Care Provider (HCCP) & the Home Support Worker (HSW) program, approximately 2700 caregivers have received permanent residencies in Canada.
