Do you want to immigrate to Canada? Try moving to a rural community in Canada. On December 14, 2020, changes were announced to the RNIP by Marco Mendicino, Canada’s Minister of Immigration.
Under these changes, it’s been granted that applicants needn’t have accumulated work experience over a continuous time period. The work experience will now be counted as the total experience within the 3 years before submitting the application.
Nevertheless, a year’s eligible work experience will be required. But having breaks in the experience period will not take away the eligibility of a candidate for the program. The changes apply to those applying for the pilot and also to those applying in the future.
IRCC is also allowing RNIP applicants to apply for a Canada work visa while waiting for a decision on their Canada PR application. This won’t be penalized as the delays in processing applications due to the COVID-19 situation has been considered for the time being.
Under the RNIP, certain rural communities in Canada can now offer pathways to Canada PR visa for skilled foreign workers. These communities can set their own requirements for eligibility that satisfies their local labor market requirements.
Along with the new measures announced, IRCC also announced the first PRs accepted under RNIP.
