British Columbia Tech Pilot draw

British Columbia (BC) conducted its latest tech pilot on June 23, 2020. It invited 87 candidates with jobs offered in BC’s technology sector to apply for permanent residence.

British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (British Columbia PNP) issued invitations in this draw to candidates under the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC categories.

Those candidates selected from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate sub-categories required a minimum score of 80.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot offers an immigration pathway that acts as fast-track for tech workers highly in-demand and international students.

The most recent extension to the BC PNP Tech Pilot project applies until June 2021.

For eligibility to participate in this immigration program, candidates must register themselves in any of BC’s existing immigration streams that are provincial. The province should also extend a job offer that’s valid for a minimum period of 12 months. This job must be in any of the 29 jobs considered eligible by Tech Pilot.

The candidates in this draw must create a profile through the online portal of BC PNP. Then they have to register under the SIRS (Skills Immigration Registration System).

These profiles are ranked with scores on the basis of factors like:

  • work experience
  • age
  • education level
  • employment location
  • English language proficiency

Candidates who get a nomination from BC will win an additional 600 points on their original Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This will effectively ensure that the candidate will get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in an Express Entry draw in the future.

The invited candidates must apply for nomination within 30 days.
