On August 3, 2021, British Columbia issued invitations to 374 immigration candidates. The invitations were sent in 2 BC PNP draws, one a general draw and another one targeting wholesale and retail trade managers.
The practice of conducting 2 separate BC PNP invitation rounds 2 times a month has been there since February 2021. There is a large number of people registered in the BC PNP SIRS with the 2 occupations targeted in the targeted draw. The additional draws are meant to strike a balance between the needs in different sectors of the labor market of BC.
The General Draw
Invitations went to candidates from the following streams in the general BC PNP draw:
- SI (Skills Immigration)
- EEBC (Express Entry BC)
To be more exact, the candidates invited belonged to the categories of Skilled Worker and International Graduate. The sub-categories of SI and EEBC streams involved were Entry Level & Semi-Skilled.
The minimum scores for this draw were between 74 and 91 points. In the general draw, 361 candidates were invited in all.
Targeted draw
The targeted draw held separately was conducted under the categories of SI and EEBC. The targeted candidates had occupations that fell under NOC 0631 or NOC 0621. 13 invitations were sent and the minimum score was set at 107.

About the BC PNP
When British Columbia needs foreign candidates to meet the labor requirements for skilled workers. These are workers in high demand for their specialized skilled and high experience.
Such individuals willing to migrate to Canada as permanent residents and work in British Columbia are given the opportunity by the BC PNP via its draws.
There are 2 streams in BC PNP namely:
- Skills Immigration and
- Express Entry.
Each of these has its sub-categories.
These streams are managed under BC’s SIRS. For candidates to apply via the SIRS, they must first need to register an account. After this, a score will be assigned to them on the basis of factors like work experience, education, and language skills.
Candidates from each sub-category who score the highest are then issued invitations to apply for a provincial nomination. The provincial nomination will lead them to be eligible to apply for Canada PR. This can be used when British Columbia holds a regular draw.
From the date candidates receive the invitation, they have 30 days to submit a complete application via the online system of BC PNP.
After submitting the application, they get BC’s decision notified within an approximate time of 2 to 3 months. Upon successful nomination, they become eligible to file an application to IRCC for Canada PR status under the Provincial Nominee Class.
The nomination granted remains valid for an approximate period of 6 months counted from the date of receiving confirmation.
Provincial nominees get extra 600 CRS points. Thus, their CRS score is raised so much as to receive an ITA from a federal Express Entry draw held subsequently.
