British Columbia PNP 314 ITAs

In the latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) conducted by British Columbia (BC) 314 candidates from the Skills Immigration and Express Entry streams were invited to apply for a provincial nomination.

The draw was conducted on June 30, 2020. This was the largest British Columbia PNP draw ever since the COVID-19 pandemic started and the second largest in 2020 as yet. The largest draw held by BC before COVID-19 occurrence happened on March 10, 2020. That draw had sent 332 invitations.

Aligned with the federal government’s Express Entry system that manages the candidate pool, the BC Express Entry acts as a pathway for skilled candidates in Canada immigration.

The federal Express Entry system deals with the pool of candidates from 3 main economic immigration categories namely:

When Express Entry candidates get a provincial nomination, 600 points are added to their original Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. These candidates are effectively given assurance that their permanent residence applications will be processed within 6 months.

In this round of invitations, skilled immigration candidates were invited to apply for a provincial nomination from the BC PNP. These candidates were taken from the categories of the stream namely:

  • Entry Level
  • Semi-Skilled
  • International Graduate
  • Skilled Worker

Certain occupations were excluded from the draw by BC due to the effect of the COVID-19 crisis. These jobs were largely from the retail, hospitality, and tourism industries.

The minimum score required in this draw ranged between 79 and 100.  The minimum scores for each of the 5 SI and EEBC categories were:

  • EEBC – International Graduate: 100
  • EEBC – Skilled Worker: 98
  • SI – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled: 79
  • SI – International Graduate: 100
  • SI – Skilled Worker: 98

To be eligible to get an invitation via the EEBC, a candidate must be registered under BC’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) and the federal Express Entry system. Candidates from the Skills Immigration stream need to register only with the SIRS.
