British Columbia once again invited skilled workers in the technology sector in its latest PNP Tech Pilot draw held on October 6, 2020.
A total of 72 ITAs (invites) were issued to eligible candidates through the British Columbia PNP. The candidates were chosen from the categories of EEBC and Skills Immigration streams. They belonged to the sub-streams of the Skilled Worker and International Graduate.
The candidates required a minimum score of 80 points to be eligible for an invite. The Tech Pilot draws conducted by BC occur every week that brings in skilled worker class of migrants from abroad with job offers in 29 occupations considered eligible for an invite.
To be an eligible candidate under the Tech Pilot, one must register in one of BC’s existing provincial immigration streams. They must also have a job offer valid for a minimum of 12 months. The job must be one that is included in the list of 29 occupations as mentioned above.
The applicants willing to work in Canada who apply under the Skills Immigration or EEBC categories are required to first create a profile via BC PNP’s online portal. They must register under SIRS.
After evaluating each profile based on factors like education, work experience, and language proficiency in English, they are assigned scores. If an application is approved, the applicant can use his/her provincial nomination to apply for PR with IRCC so as to be able to live and work in Canada. This can be done under the Provincial Nominee class.
If a candidate receives a nomination from BC, such a candidate will get an extra 600 points towards the CRS score. This effectively ensures that the candidate will get an ITA in an upcoming federal Express Entry draw.
