Highlights: Canada to soon expedite the processing times for certain visas

Canada’s Visitor visas
The IRCC is taking the initiative to prioritize the processing of visitor visas in Canada and has recently announced a plan to fast-track the processing times of certain visas. Internationals visiting the country to attend events and conferences tied up with the IRCC will have the visas processed on a priority basis. In June, The IRCC announced the addition of 13 more countries to the existing list of partial visa-exempt countries, totaling up to 67 countries. Starting from June 6, 2023, travelers from 67 countries could apply for an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) instead of a Canada visit visa.

The increase in Visitor visa Applications 2023
According to statistics, the IRCC issued 260,000 visitor visas in November 2022. Toward the end of 2022, the IRCC started processing more visitor visas to reduce backlogs and process them quickly.
