British Columbia’s latest PNP draw invites 450 candidates

The largest PNP draw of 2020 as yet was held in BC on September 29, 2020. The draw issued 450 new invitations to apply for provincial nomination. The invitation count exceeded the 430 invites that were issued in the September 1, 2020 draw.

The invitations in this PNP draw went to candidates from the categories of international student and Skilled Worker, in SI and EEBC streams.

The SI stream is meant for semi-skilled and skilled workers whose occupations are in high demand in BC. The EEBC stream caters to candidates who have a valid profile in the Express Entry system of the federal government. This is the main pathway for skilled immigrants willing to work in Canada to realize their hopes to obtain PR.

For all 5 categories of the EEBC and SI streams, the minimum score required ranged between 75 and 94 points. The following are the minimum score requirement details:

  • SI – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled: 75
  • SI – International Graduate: 94
  • SI – Skilled Worker: 93
  • EEBC – International Graduate: 94
  • EEBC – Skilled Worker: 93

To get an invitation via EEBC candidates must be registered under BC’s SIRS and federal Express Entry system. The Express Entry system is the federal government’s mechanism to manage the immigration applications from candidates under 3 economic immigration programs of Canada namely FSWP, FSTP, and CEC.

The points assigned to the profiles of these candidates are decided on the basis of human capital factors such as education, age, work experience, and language proficiency in English or French.

600 extra points are granted to the candidate if he/she receives a provincial nomination from BC. This is added to the original CRS score, which effectively guarantees the candidate that he/she will get an ITA for PR in an upcoming federal Express Entry draw.

Skills Immigration candidates have to register with the SIRS only once.

Applicants who receive ITA will have up to 30 days from the date of invitation to submit a complete application through the British Columbia PNP online registration system. Note that an ITA is not a guarantee of getting approval for a nomination.

Most candidates will need an intermediate, full-time job offer from an employer in BC to be considered under the BC PNP.
