Provincial immigration is a popular way to undertake Canada immigration. Do you want to obtain a Canada PR visa without having a job offer from British Columbia? Here’s how you can do it through the British Columbia PNP Skills Immigration – International Post-Graduate category.
First things first, you will need to complete a Master’s or a Ph.D. degree from an eligible institution in British Columbia in the following disciplines:
- agriculture
- engineering
- mathematics and statistics
- biological and biomedical sciences
- engineering technology
- natural resources conservation and research
- computer and information sciences and support services
- health professions and related clinical sciences
- physical sciences
Once you complete the degree, you will need to submit an application to British Columbia PNP. This must be done within 3 years of the date on the official transcript.
You can be eligible to immigrate under this category only if you can demonstrate your ability and intention to live and work in British Columbia. For this, you may submit evidence of your current or previous residence in the province. You may also send proof of your work experience, term of study, or family ties in British Columbia.
If you are applying under the International Post-Graduate category, you are not required to create a profile in the Canada Express Entry system to obtain eligibility.
If you already have an active Express Entry profile, as well as are meeting the criteria of the International Post Graduate category, you may benefit from priority processing. In case you are nominated, you will get priority while applying for a Canada PR visa.
Another category that BC PNP has is the Express Entry BC – International Post-Graduate category. It aligns with the federal government’s Express Entry immigration system. For eligibility under this stream, you must have the following besides other basic requirements of eligibility:
- a valid Canada Express Entry profile number, and
- a job seeker validation code.
With a provincial nomination, you will be granted 600 additional CRS points. That will effectively guarantee that you will receive an invitation to apply for a Canada PR visa in a future federal Express Entry draw.
